The Russians

The Russians

Federers ability to start winning tournaments and keep it going is fairly astonishing. Since winning his first title of the year in Madrid hes won 26 of his last 27 matches, including two grand slams and two masters series titles. Federer is definitely back on top of his game.

His victories against Murray and Djokovic last week should aslo boost his confidence and make him the clear favourite to defend his US Open title at the end of the month. Its so weird to think that he could meet the ‘now number 3′ Nadal in the semi’s there.

Elena Dementieva is also playing some of the best tennis of her career. Beating Serena and Sharapova to take home the third title of the year. I really like her style of play and has to be considered one of the top 3 favourites for the US Open, having been a finalist there before.

Marion Bartoli

Marion Bartoli

Been a bit of a lack of updates lately because I’ve been doing alot of study for my exams in a couple of weeks and then Norway for badminton! Hopefully I will get back to normal by the end of the month.

Alot going on in the tennis world right now and none more exciting than Kim Clijsters returning next week for Cincinnati. Nadal is also definitely playing (?) Montreal next week too, according to Uncle Toni. Lets hope for the best.

Federer also said he is playing in Montreal which I’m a bit surprised at considering that his girlfriend gave birth to twins less than two weeks ago and he’s already off jet setting. I’m guessing (and seriously hoping) Mirka wont be attending and will stay home in Switzerland and eat Milka bars whist taking care of the twins.

Ahhhh, so much more happening on the tour too:

  • Sam Querry wins LA, Donald Young must be going mad.
  • Davydenko is back in form, winning Umag.
  • Sharapova is also getting back playing good tennis surprisingly fast….except her insane doubles faults in her semi-final loss to Venus Williams in Stanford last week.
  • Oh, Marion Bartoli(remember her from Wimbledon a few years ago?) she beat Venus to take the Stanford title. Like I said last week, Womens tennis is getting alot more interesting…
