The Six Pack: TwitterGate redux
After last night’s win, Guillen tweeted a series of messages that predictably, had Chicago buzzing. He lead off with, “I am in very, very bad mood, stay away from me the most you can” and went from there.
Guillen’s tweets led many to believe his anger had to do with son Ozney—who plays at Miami-Dade Junior College—not being drafted by the White Sox. Speculation raged that there was even an agreement among the White Sox and rival teams that the White Sox were “reserving” Ozney.
Absurdity of that cloak-and-dagger notion aside, that speculation ignores the fact that Guillen steadfastly avoids tweeting about the White Sox.
In truth, Guillen was writing about a “very, very close friend” who is ill back in Venezuela. And it irritated him greatly that people immediately assumed he was grinding an axe against the White Sox with his writing.
“I have a life besides this [baseball] life,” Guillen said with some frustration. “My life is not [just] in baseball. I have kids, I have a family, I have a family in Venezuela, I have family [members who are] sick, I have family that struggles, I have family that needs money. That’s what my tweet was about. My tweet was nothing about baseball. Nothing. Nothing at all.
“Was it something with the White Sox or something personal with anybody? No. I told you I’m not going to tweet about this ballclub … The only time I ever tweeted about baseball [in April at Yankee Stadium], it cost me a lot of money. I have problems with my [extended] family and that’s all I was tweeting about.”
White Sox GM Ken Williams addressed the media long after Guillen hightailed it from the dugout, grumbling, and said that it would be too big a distraction to sign Guillen’s youngest son, Ozney, as a free agent (the Miami-Dade player went unselected in the recent major league draft).
Asked about nepotism issues, specifically with regard to his son (Ken Williams Jr.) as a sixth-round selection in 2008 and Ozney being picked in the 22nd round in 2010 (opting to go to college after falling low in the draft), Williams took a long pause.
“Well, listen, Rafael Santana’s kid went in the second round. Doug Laumann’s kid went to Atlanta,” he said. “I tried to talk our people out of taking my son … but no, listen, nobody can afford in the draft ...

BSPN was floating that Derrick Williams might be the #1 pick (maybe because he was their 'guest of the day' today, running through most of their radio/tv shows. Anyways, that won't happen but I guess there's the slight chance the Lakers could pick up

When told that sports radio was reading Guillen tweets and speculating on their meaning, Guillen cut the questioning right off: “F--- the radio—the only way they have a job is because they read my tweets.” Williams felt it was a formality,

I've never made a film like this before, so I don't know what it would be like with someone else. But it was a nice chemistry -- my favorite thing to do in Los Angeles is drive around at night and listen to music. I like to listen to this radio show
I don't get it.” Amid harsh criticism, Schlessinger apologized the next night for what she said was “a horrible mistake.” But a week later, she announced on "Larry King Live" that she had decided "not to do radio anymore" in order to “regain my First
