Is there no other news?

As stated before, we have 3 large plasma TVs around the office here at PwC that are always tuned to cable news of one variety or another. The TV in the break room turned to Fox News I changed to MSNBC (better? probably not), and I have also spent some time around CNN as well. I have seen NOTHING on the news today except for coverage of the hurricane. Nothing. It is so rediculous, it makes me mad. Now lets go to the soggy reporter on the roof of a swanky hotel in the city. Look, there's water in the streets. Now we'll show you footage of people in a shelter. They look tired! Breaking news! The wind has calmed a little bit! Lets compare this storm to another storm. Now back to more footage of heavy rain. Went to the Ren Fest - see Sarah's post for details - it was fun. Sunday the fam and I went to the State fair. That was also fun. But walking around for 6 hours or so each day makes me tired. Ugh. But it was fun to have my family down. Sunday morning before Molly, Matt, Chris, and Drew woke up, my mom, Burnell and I went to a coffee shop and talked for an hour or so. They're great to talk with, and I think they enjoyed Hard Times Cafe. It was interesting too, to walk around the state fair with Burnell. We talked about how much money is flowing there, food, rides, vendors, etc. It's crazy. I didn't realize just how much of the fair is about selling things, food to outdoor wood-powered water heaters/furnaces. It's not so much about life and living any longer. I was also disappointed how machinery hill has changed. There aren't many large tractors there any longer, and you certainly can't climb around in them. It was very cool to see some of the early gas-powered engines that were used to run belts that drove different machinery. That's the industrial revolution in the flesh... err steel. I think Sarah and I are going to be going back there one of these days. It'll be fun to walk around with her and go harass Joe and tell him to give us free walleye.
